Sandra Changkija
Women's Golf
Sandra Changkija was selected as NSU's co-Female Athlete of the year at the Athlete Awards Banquet and then went on to qualify for the U.S. Open over the summer.

Fall 2009: Appeared in all four tournaments taking first place in two of them... She opened the fall season with a first place win over 92 other participants with a 147 score for the tournament... Tied for 12th at the USF-Waterlefe Invitational... Tied for second place at the NSU Shark Invitational... She finished her fall season with her second 1st place title at the Ross Resorts At Mid Pines Invitational, posting her lowest score of a 69 in the second round of play. Spring 2010: Garnered Third Consecutive NGCA Player of the Year honor...Duramed NGCA Division II First-Team All-American...Selected as the Sunshine State Conference Female Athlete of the Year...Was named SSC Women's Golfer of the Year and selected first-team All-Sunshine State Conference...2010 NSU Co-Female Athlete of the Year...Erased a four shot deficit in the final round to win the individual title at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships...She competed in all seven tournaments where she took first place in five with two second place finishes...Finished first at the Lady Moc Classic Invitational above 64 other competitors...Came in first place at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational...She placed second at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational...At the Hoya Women's Invitational took first place with a score of one-under par at a 143...Went on to take first place at the 2010 SSC Championship over 39 other players...Took second place at the NCAA Division II Super Region II leading her team to a first place finish in the Regional tournament...Set a new program record with a 72.13 scoring average after 31 rounds of play...Concluded the season ranked fourth in the GolfStat Cup, given to the best collegiate golfer in the nation...Qualified for the U.S. Women's Open from July 9th-12th at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.

Men's Basketball
Alex Gynes was selected as NSU's Male Athlete of the Year for 2009-10 academic year...Started in 20 of 27 games played... Led the team in points per game with 12.7 and free-throw attempts per game with 5.6... Was second on the team in field goal percentage with .502 (114-227) and in rebounds per game with 5.6... Set a new career high with 23 points scored against Christian Brothers on 12/03/09 and against Eckerd on 1/09/10... Was 10-14 from the free-throw line in that game... Posted 10 rebounds in two games against West Virginia State on 11/27/09 and Barry 1/16/10... Was 9-10 from the field; shooting a career high of .900 percent against Christian Brothers on 12/03/09... Had a career high six assists against Tampa on 02/03/10... Posted one double-double at Barry on 1/16/10.
