Ryan Jamison

Ryan Jamison returned to Nova Southeastern in July of 2012 as the head coach of the men's golf program. In his first season at the helm, he led the team to the school's first-ever South Regional Championship and a third-place finish at nationals, followed that up with a national runner-up finish in his second year at the helm, and in 2015, earned the program's second-ever National Championship and was chosen as the Dave Williams DII National Coach of the Year. This past season, he took the team to the NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional, their 12th straight NCAA postseason appearance.

That followed a regular season that saw the squad take a win in the Buccaneer Invitational and three runner-up finishes, and a top-10 showing all season long. Junior Richard Mansell qualified for the NCAA National Championship as an individual and finished fifth in the country in a packed field. He was also Honorable Mention All-Sunshine State Conference. First-year Juan Jose Guerra had a tremendous debut season that saw him being named an NCAA All-American Freshman.

Jamison's Sharks had a nearly unprecented run in 2014-15, ranking first throughout the season in the Golfstat Relative Rankings, and for each of the last seven weeks in the Bushnell Golfweek DII Coaches Poll. They won five regular season events, including four of five in the spring, before taking the title at both the NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional. Then, during Medal/Match Play at the National Championships, they took out No. 5 Chico State, No. 11 Central Missouri (in a 5-0 shutout), and No. 3 Lynn in the final match, 3-2.

The Sharks featured two of the top three players in all of Division II, Santiago Gomez and Richard Mansell, both honored as DII PING First Team All-Americans as well as each being tabbed as Sunshine State Conference First Team members. Jamison was voted SSC Coach of the Year for the second time, while Gomez was named SSC Men's Golfer of the Year. In addition, two more members—Oscar Lengden and Priyanshu Singh—were Second- and Third-Team All-American, respectively, while all four of these players were named to the DII PING All-South Region team. In addition to his national coaching award, the GCAA also named Jamison as the South Region Coach of the Year.

In 2013-14, the Sharks placed third or better in seven consecutive, and in 10 out of 12 events. They were first at the Armstrong Pirate Invitational and second in three tournaments, including at both the NCAA South/Southeast Regional and at the aforementioned NCAA National Championships.

The Sharks had five members named to the PING All-American teams, three to the PING All-South Region squads and three as All-Sunshine State Conference in 2013-14. In addition, Jamison was chosen as CaptainU's Spring DII National Coach of the Year.

In addition to the team's postseason accolades after his first season, Jamison was named the 2013 Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year. During the season, the Sharks earned four tournament wins and were runners-up in an additional four events.

Under Jamison's tutelage, Ricardo Celia and Ben Taylor were each named to the All-Nicklaus Team and PING All-American first team, while Hunter O'Mahoney was named named second team by PING. All three were also members of the South All-Region Team, along with teammate Ian Facey.

Celia and Taylor both were named to the All-SSC First Team, with Taylor earning his second straight SSC Player of the Year award. O'Mahoney was selected All-SSC Honorable Mention.

In addition, Jamison recently became Trackman Level 1 and Level 2 certified.

Prior to his return to NSU, Jamison spent two seasons at his alma mater DePaul, where he impacted the Blue Demon's DI program immediately. In his first season in 2010-11, he helped two golfers place in the top 10 at the BIG EAST Championship. It marked the first time in program history that two players finished in the top 10 at the BIG EAST Championship.

Before his stint at DePaul, Jamison spent the first part of his career here at NSU, serving as the assistant coach for the men’s golf program from 2006-10. Under two-time NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year Kevin Marsh, Jamison led NSU to a sixth-place finish in 2010 in the program's second national championship appearance. That followed a fifth-place finish at the national championship in 2008.

In his tenure as assistant coach, the Sharks compiled multiple NCAA Regional and Sunshine State Conference titles. He also tutored Bobby Bode, Constantin Schwierz and Greg O'Mahony to All-American honors and Ben Vertz and Eric Cole to SSC Freshman of the Year honors during his four seasons with the Sharks. Overall, Jamison and the Sharks claimed eight tournament titles, six second-place finishes, and six third-place finishes.

Jamison earned his bachelor of science degree in commerce from DePaul while completing an impressive four-year career for the Blue Demons. He won the 75th Midwest Amateur tournament by five shots and captained the DePaul squad his final two seasons. Jamison also represented the university at the SAAC (Student Athletic Academic Committee) National Conference at the University of Memphis during his junior year. In 2004, Jamison also assisted ESPN in its coverage of the US Open golf tournament from Olympia Fields Country Club in Chicago. He recently earned his MBA in sports management from the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at DePaul.
