Teofilo "Coquito" Cubillas
Men's Soccer, 1999-2000

Teofilo "Coquito" Cubillas, Jr. was a forward and team captain for the NSU men's soccer team for two seasons, after transferring from Division I power N.C. State. He was twice named First Team All-Florida Sun Conference (1999 & 2000) and NAIA First Team All-Southeast Region (1999 and 2000). Cubillas was named an NAIA All-American in 2000 and an Honorable Mention NAIA All-American 1999, as well as the Florida Sun Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Year in 2000.

He was the team's leader in scoring, totaling 29 goals (4th all-time), 18 assists (3rd all-time) and 76 points (5th all-time), as he led the 1999 and 2000 men's soccer teams to NAIA Region XIV Championships, as well as two National Tournament Appearances. He holds the single-season record for game-winning goals with seven decisive strikes in 2000 and his 10 career game-winners ranks second on the all-time list. His 118 shots in 2000 are also a program record for a single-season.

After his collegiate career came to a close, he became the first NSU player to be drafted by a Major League Soccer team when the Miami Fusion selected him in the 2001 MLS Super Draft. Teofilo graduated from NSU with a psychology degree and is a Coral Springs native.
