Track and Field and Cross Country Teams had 20 athletes volunteer the marathon

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--The Nova Southeastern men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams had 20 student-athletes participate in the 13.1 Fort Lauderdale Marathon on Nov. 14. The team was involved in helping the US Road Sports and Entertainment of Florida set up and coordinate the event.

“It was a great experience for our student-athletes,” said coach Bryan Hagopian. “I like for my student-athletes to see the determination these runners have while running this race. I want them try to develop that type of determination for themselves while racing, and also the team gets a chance to give back to the community.”

The 13.1 marathon is part of a South Florida humanitarian effort that will raise $100,000 through global organization World Vision for the rebuilding effort in Haiti. Runners participating with Team World Vision donated a portion of their entry fees for work in the Caribbean country.
