Softball Releases 2012 Schedule

Three tournaments and 26 home games highlight the 2012 campaign.

COMPLETE SCHEDULE

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
– The Nova Southeastern softball team and head coach Lesa Boneé have released the 2012 schedule. The schedule includes 56 games, in which the Sharks will play the host at the AD Griffin Sports Complex for 26 of them.

NSU opens play Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 5 p.m., when Webber International travels to Fort Lauderdale for a doubleheader. The Sharks then head out on the road for a pair of tournaments, first travelling to Pensacola, Fla. to compete in the West Florida Tournament Feb. 4-5 and then to Clearwater, Fla. to participate in the Eckerd College Tournament Feb. 10-12.

The Sharks return home Thursday, Feb. 16 to take on Northwood and then welcome West Florida for two games Feb. 18. After a neutral site game Feb. 21 against Saint Thomas (Fla.), the Sharks trek up to Columbus, Ga. to compete in the Columbus State Tournament. NSU will face Armstrong Atlantic and the host Cougars Feb. 24 and then Lincoln Memorial and Young Harris Feb. 25. The Sharks will stick around to do battle with Columbus State again Feb. 27 to complete NSU’s longest road trip of the 2012 campaign.

A doubleheader against Mercyhurst Feb. 29 concludes the first month of play. The month of March opens with Sunshine State Conference play as Florida Tech visits for a trio of games March 2-3. The Sharks first conference road trip will be to Winter Park, Fla., March 9-10, to take on Rollins.

March 15 provides a break from conference play as the Sharks and Palm Beach Atlantic will play a doubleheader at the AD Griffin Sports Complex. After a trip to St. Petersburg, Fla. to take on conference foe Eckerd, March 15-16, the Sharks return home for a triple set of games against Barry, March 23-24.

A visit to Saint Leo for three games, March 30-31, wraps up the second month of play, before NSU heads to West Palm Beach, Fla. for a doubleheader against PBA. The Sharks will be the visiting team for the final time, March 13-14, when they visit Lynn for three more SSC competitions.

NSU will finish out the regular season with eight home games over the course of 11 days, Apr. 18-28, beginning with an out-of-conference doubleheader against St. Thomas. The Sharks finish with six SSC games, the first three against Florida Southern, Apr. 21-22, and then three against Tampa, including a doubleheader against the Spartans on the final day of the regular season, Apr. 28.

The NCAA South Regionals will be held from May 4-6, a tournament the Sharks will be looking to get back into after reaching the Regionals in 2009.
