AVCA RELEASE

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Junior Danielle Graham (Cincinnati, Ohio) added another honor to her successful 2011 season. Graham, already an All-SSC Second-Team selection, garnered American Volleyball Coaches Association South Region Honorable Mention recognition, as announced by the AVCA Tuesday.
 
Graham is the first Shark to be selected for an AVCA South Region honor since 2009 when Valia Petrova was a first-team selection, Kathleen Yony earned a honorable mention nod and Carly Pershnick was named Freshman of the Year.
 
Graham led all Sharks with 304 kills this season, a 2.95 per set average. Graham racked up double-digit kills in 16 of the Sharks’ 28 matches this season. She topped 20 on three occasions, recording a season-high 23 twice. The first time she accomplished that feat was on Oct. 4 against Florida Tech and then again Nov. 12, a season-ending victory over Rollins.
 
She was also a defensive force for NSU this season, tallying 78 total blocks, 17 solo. Graham accounted for 10 total blocks in the Sharks’ 3-2 victory over Harding Sept. 8.
 
Graham has also recorded 172 digs, 12 assists and 11 service aces.
