FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern women’s soccer players
Dilja Olafsdottir (So., Reykjavik, Iceland)
Rachael Reid (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind.) and
Malin Broberg (So., Stockholm, Sweden) received National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-South Region honors, as released by the organization this week.
Olafsdottir earned the honor for the second time in only two seasons of play. She was a catalyst on the defense and was one of only five players to start all 16 games. Offensively, she wreaked havoc in the box. Olafsdottir scored all three of her goals off corner kicks. All three came in wins and were the first goals of the match. She recorded two game-winning goals on the season.
Reid earned second-team honors after starting in all 16 games on defense for the Sharks, leading the defense to six shutouts. She also contributed on offense, scoring two goals and notching six assists for 10 points. Her assist total was tied for fifth-best in the SSC and her points total was tied for 27th-best.
For her career, Reid started every game for a total of 32 starts and 2,275 minutes played. In 2010 she was a part of a defense that shutout seven teams, two short of a NSU record.
Broberg earned third-team recognition after leading the Sharks in points with 18 and goals with seven. She also tallied the third most assists on the team with four. Within the Sunshine State Conference, she ranked 12th in points scored and ninth in total goals.
