NSU Student-Athletes Learn How to Become Winners Outside the Lines

NSU Professor and Protocol Consultant Mary Harris Teaches Student-Athletes Proper Etiquette

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Over 75 Nova Southeastern University junior and senior student-athletes attended an upper-classmen workshop on how to market in a business atmosphere which was conducted by NSU teacher and protocol consultant Mary Harris on Wednesday, April 6 at the Grande Oaks Golf Club.

During the workshop, the student-athletes went through an entire three course meal. During the first course, Harris talked about specific techniques to present, while also teaching how to impress future employers. The student-athletes were also able to partake in hands on, role-playing exercises which put themselves in a real world setting. During the main course and desert, Harris went over step-by-step instructions on do’s and don’ts of dining in a formal setting and how to properly give a toast at the end of a meal, having a student-athlete take part in one after the dinner.

“I feel like this course really helped us gain knowledge about proper etiquette that we do need to know for our future,” senior cheerleader and track and field team member Kristina Labossiere said. “This gives us a huge advantage over the some off the strongest competition we will face after we graduate and I am fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to be a part of it.”
