FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern baseball team reached out to the community over winter break by donating gifts on behalf of the NSU athletic department.
The baseball team collected toys from student-athletes, coaches, and staff members of the athletic department and donated them to the Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital, Jack and Jill and Kid’s in Distress. The presents were delivered by head coach
Greg Brown and All-SSC First-Team senior
Areo Regoli (Homestead, Fla.). Regoli and Brown also brought along a Santa Claus to distribute the gifts to the children at the hospital.
“This is a community service project that is near and dear to my heart,” said Brown. “I began delivering gifts 12 years ago with my mother-in-law who organized the donation centers and delivery. It is something that I look forward to every holiday season because it makes you stop and think about those less fortunate than you.”
After gifts were distributed, Brown, Regoli and Santa spent time with the children and helped them make holiday cards for their families. Brown sees this as a long-term community service project for his team and something that future seniors will look forward to being a part of.
