MIAMI, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University Track & Field team participated as well as volunteered in the ING Miami Half/Full Marathon this past Sunday, January 29th.
Men’s track and field runner
Agustin Rey (Sr., Coral Springs, Fla.), chose to test his endurance in the marathon finishing 14th-overall of 3,951 finishers with a crossing time of 2:43:20, which ranked him second in his age category of 20-24.
“We were all very excited to cheer on Agustin as he came past our water station,” said Hagopian. “It was great to not only see one of our runners in the race, but to see him in the leading pack was very exciting. He represented our program and university very well and we are all proud of his accomplishment.”
With two marathon groups running together the Sharks were a bit overwhelmed assisting with nearly 20,000 runners, however the thirty plus track & field volunteers did not let it bog them down as they controlled the first water station on the course, distrusting refreshments to the passing runners.
“This was the largest marathon ING has ever sponsored,” said head coach Bryan Hagopian. “I was very excited and proud to have my team there assisting the athletes and to give back to the running community.”
