Women’s Golf Wins Guy Harvey Invitational

The Sharks women make it five in a row.

FINAL RESULTS

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. –
After two rounds at the 8th-Annual Guy Harvey Invitational, the Nova Southeastern University women’s golf team took home the team title shooting six strokes better than second place. The Sharks finished at +13 shooting a two-round score of 589 (290-299) on the 6,163-yard, par 72 PGA National Palmer course on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Coming into the tournament, the Sharks had won the past four Shark Invitationals hosted at PGA National. This year, NSU made it a fifth straight with a six-stroke victory after firing a tournament low 290 in the opening round on Monday. In each of the previous Invitational wins, the Sharks have gone on to win the Division II national title.
 
No. 2 Rollins (+19) tried to make a run in the second round, but finished with a two-round 595 (301-294) to finish second in the 15-team field. Seventh-ranked Florida Southern finished third with a two-round 612 (+36), while No. 4 Barry (+40) finished fourth at 616. Third-ranked Lynn (+44) rounded out the top-five finishing with a two-round 620.
 
Individually, Rollins’ Annie Dulman finished with a two-round 142 (-2) to win the individual medalist honors. Tied for second on Monday, Dulman was one of only two players to shoot under par for the entire tournament firing a two-under 70 in Tuesday’s final round to win the individual title.
 
Senior Abbey Gittings (Tamworth, England) was the Sharks’ top finisher in second place out of the field of 81 individuals. She fired back-to-back rounds of 73 for a two-round 146 (+2). Daniela Ortiz (So., Morelia, Mexico) finished one stroke back in third place with a two-round 147 (+3).
 
Sharks Linnea Johansson (Fr., Vaxjo, Sweden) and Liliana Cammisa (So., Cordoba, Argentina) both finished tied for fourth overall at four-over par, while Rachel Lewis (Jr., Cardiff, Wales) rounded out the NSU team standings tied for 62nd. Playing as an individual, Ana Paula Costa (Fr., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) finished tied at 67.
 
The Sharks will return to the links on Monday, Oct. 15 at the Saint Leo Invitational hosted at Lake Jovita Country Club.
