Broberg, Kopale and Olafsdottir Named to All-SSC Team

Each player was named to the second-team.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Junior’s Malin Broberg (Stockholm, Sweden), Dilja Olafsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) and freshman Amanda Kopale (Fr., Cape Coral, Fla.) were selected to the 2012 All-Sunshine State Conference Second-Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday.

Despite past All-Region selections, this is the first time Broberg and Olafsdottir have been named to the All-SSC team. As a freshman, Kopale is the first goalkeeper in program history to make the All-SSC team.

“This is the first time in the history of our program that three players have been named to the ALL-SSC team in the same year, certainly their teammates and coaches are excited for them,” said head women’s soccer coach Michael Goodrich. “With that said, knowing how competitive each one of them are, I am sure they are looking forward to next year and excelling as a group.”

Broberg played in all 15 matches for the Sharks this season, racking up 1,040 minutes. Broberg finished with three goals and two assists, giving her a team-high eight points. Broberg also took 63 shots which was sixth most in the SSC.

Olafsdottir played in 14 matches this season for NSU, playing in 1,284 minutes. Olafsdottir anchored the defense to five shutouts on the year. She also scored three goals this season, all off of headers from corner kicks. That total was tied for most goals by a defender in the SSC.

Kopale had a great freshmen campaign, playing in 14 matches for the Sharks this season. Kopale finished the season with 60 saves, only 12 goals against, and a .833 save percentage which ranked among the top five in each category. Kopale also finished with five shutouts, which was the fourth most in the SSC.
