FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern academic services recently held back to back work shops for the student-athletes.
The first workshop that took place showed a webinar produced by the NCAA: “How to Break into the Sports and Entertainment Industry.” The segments were broken down as follows:
• Part 1: Set Yourself Apart From Other Students When Searching For an Internship
• Part 2: I’ve Secured an Internship, What Is Expected of Me?
• Part 3: What To Do Once You’ve Earned Your First Full-Time Position
• Part 4: Q & A with Industry Veterans
The NSU student athletes were given an opportunity to interact and ask questions about the sports industry.
“I appreciated the opportunity to attend the Webinar where I was exposed to many veterans of the sports management industry who were former NCAA athletes,” said Sean Mullen, NSU Men’s basketball team “Being able to discuss how to best utilize my experiences as a student-athlete at NSU to obtain an internship/career in this field was incredibly helpful.”
In the following workshop, Gail Levine from NSU’s Academic Services was a guest speaker to the student-athletes, presenting an hour long workshop called, “Winning At Math.”
Levine provided tips and tricks to our student athletes and discussed time-management techniques, study strategies and test-taking tips, specifically focusing on math.
“I am thankful for our collaboration with other departments on campus, such as Academic Services to be able to work with one another to assist our students with ways to acquire various study strategies,” said Manager of Student-Athlete Academic Services, C.A. Tolchinsky.” Mrs. Levine possesses a plethora of math tips and our student athletes benefited greatly from her knowledge during this workshop.”
