FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern golfer,
Benjamin Taylor (So., Leatherhead, England), currently ranked No.1 in the nation, recently competed in the prestigious Jones Cup Invitational, held from Feb. 2-5 at the Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island, Ga.
Taylor (73-75-71--219) played exceptionally well, shooting three over par for a third-place finish. The field featured 90 golfers from around the country, most of whom compete at the NCAA Division-I level. Justin Thomas of Alabama won the event shooting an even 216, edging out Manav Shah of UCLA who finished one stroke ahead of Taylor at two over par.
“Taylor played extremely well,” said head coach Garrett Runion. “He represented our program to the highest level and we are very proud of what he accomplished at the Jones Cup Invitational.”
The Jones Cup Invitational is a prestigious tournament that features the best collegiate golfers in the country. After the annual tournament began in 2001, all but one of the winners went on to earn their PGA card.
