Baseball Volunteers in Sharkey’s Story Time

Baseball players read books and sign autographs for local youth.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern baseball team visited the Alvin Sherman Library for Sharkey’s Story Time Wednesday, Feb. 15 and Thursday, Feb. 16.

Baseball stars Scott Woodrey (Sr., Lighthouse Point, Fla.), Kellen St. Luce (Sr., St. Thomas, Virgin Islands), Chris Van Brandt (Fr., Sarasota, Fla.), Michael Melendez (Fr., Miramar, Fla.), Mike Gonzalez (Jr., Miami, Fla.), Angel Navarro (Fr., Miami Lakes, Fla.), Javi Sujo (Sr., Miami, Fla.), Roberto Baroniel (Fr., Miami, Fla.) and Ronald Patella (Fr., Davie, Fla.) shared their favorite children’s books, including :Five Little Monkeys, Jumping on the Bed, The Seals on the Bus and Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?, by Bill Martin Jr.

The children sang, danced and read with Youth Services Librarian Meagan Albright and the baseball team. Thereafter, the baseball players answered questions and signed autographs for the children.
