Conference Release
WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference office has announced its weekly honors, and for the second time this season Nova Southeastern’s
Sara DeMuth (Sr., Plant City, Fla.) has been selected as the SSC Pitcher of the Week.
DeMuth picked up three wins, including a pair of complete-game shutouts, in the Sharks’ SSC series at Eckerd. Working 15.0 innings, she permitted just four hits with no walks and 22 strikeouts.
In a 4-0 win in the series opener, DeMuth did not surrender a single hit or walk, while striking out 12. In a 16-0 win in game two, she scattered three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts over five innings. DeMuth was also a force at the plate, driving in seven runs with a grand slam and a three-run homer in the fifth inning.
In the finale, she took the circle in relief with the game tied at 1-1. Over the final three innings, she held the Tritons to just one hit and no walks, while fanning three.
DeMuth currently sits 24 strikeouts away from breaking the Sharks’ single season mark of 217 set by Lexi Sarradet in 2009. Her 14 wins this season is seventh-best in the history of the NSU softball program.
