Nova Southeastern alumnus J.D. Martinez will start the 2012 season with the Houston Astros, as the former Shark has made the 25-man opening day roster. In spring training, Martinez hit four doubles and recorded 12 RBI. The Astros brought Martinez up from AA last season and the outfielder shined over the final two months of the season. This season, Martinez is expected to be the team's starting right fielder and bat third in the lineup.
