Men’s Golf Finishes 10th at Golfweek Preview

Gomez, Celia end play with even-par final rounds

SUNRIVER, Ore. – Led by two individuals wrapping up play with even-par rounds, the Nova Southeastern men's golf team moved up two slots to finish 10th in the Golfweek DII Fall Preview at the Crosswater Golf Club .

Santiago Gomez (So., Armenia, Colombia) and Ricardo Celia (Sr., Barranquilla, Colombia) each carded 72's during Tuesday's final round, and finished one stroke apart in their final totals. Gomez moved up 22 spots into a tie for 14th place with his three-round total of 231 (82-77-72). Celia had a similar move, 19 spots better, into a tie for 21st with a 232 (86-74-72).

The other three Sharks competing finished a stroke apart as well. Mitch Farrer (Sr., West Sussex, England) tied for 51st (85-76-81—242), Ian Facey (Jr., Miami) tied for 54th (83-79-81—243) and Oscar Lengdèn (Jr., Helsingborg, Sweden) tied for 58th (84-80-80—244).

CSU-Monterey Bay won the team title by 20 strokes over Chico State, 893 to 913. The Otters' duo of Brandon Hortt (217) and Dylan Jackson (222) were the top two individuals as well.

NSU finished four strokes behind Simon Fraser and Colorado at Colorado Springs (each with a 941) and a stroke ahead of Colorado School of Mines (946).

The Sharks return home and will host next week's Guy Harvey Invitational at the PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The ninth annual event takes place Monday, Oct. 7, and Tuesday, Oct. 8.
