LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Nova Southeastern softball players Jennie Von Doellen (Sr., Hudson Bay, Canada) and Chrissy Tabulov were named as 2012-13 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athletes on Monday.
Von Doellen, majoring in exercise and sports science, finished the last academic year with a 3.78 GPA. She was the Sharks' ace last season and recorded the second most strikeouts in the SSC, with 191, in 229.1 innings pitched.
Tabulov, a biology major, earned a 3.81 GPA in 2012-13. Tabulov was a key contributor for NSU last season, playing in 43 games for the Sharks. She batted .250 and recorded 14 RBI.
Von Doellen and Tabulov are the eighth and ninth Scholar All-Americans since head coach Lesa Boneè arrived at NSU in 2003. This is the second consecutive year in which the softball team has had multiple All-America Scholar Athletes and the fifth time in program history.
The NFCA Academic Awards program honors both collegiate and high school teams for their submitted grade-point averages from the 2012-13 academic year.
The SSC was represented by 39 student-athletes from six different institutions.
