Women's Basketball Ranked Preseason No. 5 by WDIIB

Danielle Robinson named Honorable Mention

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's basketball team was chosen No. 5 in the nation by Women's Division II Bulletin in their Preseason Top 25, released on Monday.

The Sharks, losing just two players from last year's run to the Elite Eight, slot behind only Bentley, Clayton State, Gannon and Central Missouri, according to WDIIB. They are one of only two Sunshine State Conference schools ranked, along with No. 18 Rollins.

In addition, the publication named Danielle Robinson (Jr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) as an Honorable Mention selection among their preseason All-Americans. She is one of only two SSC players to be mentioned (Florida Tech's Kayk Wilson).

"Being ranked as the preseason No. 5 team in the DII Bulletin is a great honor for our program and a tribute to all of the players who have worn a Shark uniform the past two seasons," said head coach LeAnn Freeland. "The ranking is not something to be celebrated by our team, because we haven't earned anything yet. We view the ranking as simply a huge challenge and will relentlessly work together to live up to the preseason expectation. It is critical we understand that the ranking is a great motivator for every unranked team on our schedule, therefore, we must be mentally prepared for everyone's best game early in the season. All coaches pull out the highlighters when preseason rankings are released and hang the rankings in their locker room.  It is one thing to hunt, quite another to be the hunted."

NSU begins regular season play Nov. 9-10 when they host the NSU Tipoff Classic.
