FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Rowing student-athlete
Lauren Boudreau (Sr., Waterford, N.Y.) is named February’s Student Leader of the Month.
Boudreau is the acting President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The NSU SAAC acts as a voice for student athletes. The organization’s involvement with the Make-A-Wish Foundation includes hosting SAAC sponsored sporting events as well as continuous fundraising throughout the academic year. NSU SAAC's future initiatives involve community service work with the Davie Police Athletic League (PAL) program, Tomorrow's Rainbow organization and Habitat for Humanity. She is a biology major.
“As the Advisor of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), I work closely with many of the student-athletes as well as community volunteers,” said Coordinator of Academic Services
Andrea Buenano. “I consider Lauren Boudreau to be one of the most intellectual, thoughtful, trustworthy and diligent members of our organization.Since my first week of arrival at NSU Athletics Ms. Boudreau has informed me of our mission in SAAC and the community events that we have accomplished in the past and are working on in the present. She is a dedicated member of the NSU and Broward County community and has donated countless hours of her time to the organization, NSU and our Division II organization Make-A-Wish. Her leadership and organizational skills have been invaluable to SAAC.”
As an athlete on the NSU rowing team, Boudreau helped the Sharks capture its fifth SSC Championship, winning the varsity eight. Boudreau helped capture the silver medal in the varsity eight at the Dad Vail Regatta and rowed the varsity eight to a third-place finish at NCAA Championships.
“Lauren’s commitment to academics, service and athletic achievement exemplifies the goal of a Shark student-athlete,” said head coach
Stephen Frazier-Wong. " She is that rare combination of a leader who is comfortable in an authoritative position but also selflessly endeavors to serve those for whom she is responsible. Lauren is a keystone member of the NSU community and will make a great doctor someday.”
