FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern women’s basketball players
Meixandra Porter and
Danielle Robinson were honored Thursday as members of the Daktronics All-South Region Team.
For the second time in her career as a Shark, Porter (Sr., Chantilly, Va.) has been honored by Daktronics, but for the first time as a first-team selection. She led the 20-8 NSU squad with an average of 17.3 points a game, second in the Sunshine State Conference.
Porter was a Second Team All-Region choice after last year, her junior season. She is the first Daktronics first-team honoree from NSU since Stephanie Sarosi in 2010-11.
Robinson (So., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) was named to the All-South Second Team on Thursday. She was second on the team in scoring this season (13.8 ppg) while also being named co-SSC Defensive Player of the Year.
As a result of her first-team nod, Porter moves on to the national ballot for the Daktronics Women’s All-America Team, to be announced March 22. All five members of each of the country’s eight regions are eligible for first-, second- or third-team All-America. Sarosi is the only NSU player to be honored nationally, as a second-team All-American in 2008-09.
