No. 1 Women's Golf Wins Third Straight, Capturing the Crown in Vegas

Sharks have gone three-for-three this spring season

LAS VEGAS – The No. 1 Nova Southeastern women’s golf team won their third consecutive spring tournament today at the Bison Invitational in Las Vegas, shooting a tournament best +10 (296-290—586).

The Sharks initially held the lowest team round in the tournament until surpassing it today by six strokes with a +2 (290) to capture the victory, defeating the second-place team Old Dominion by a 15-stroke margin.

Leading the way for the third consecutive week was No. 2 Linnea Johansson (Fr., Vaxjo, Sweden), who finished the tournament at +2 (74-72—146), which slotted her second on the leaderboard, falling to Samantha Morrell of Old Dominion by two strokes.

No. 3 Daniela Ortiz  (So., Morelia, Mexico) and No. 4 Abbey Gittings (Jr., Tamworth, England) finished only one stroke behind teammate Johanssona, finishing tied for third overall. Ortiz shot a +3 (74-73—147) while Gittings improved five strokes on her final round to move eight spots on the leaderboard to third, shooting a +3 (76-71—147).

After leading the Sharks on the first day, No. 5 Liliana Cammisa (So., Alta Gracia, Argentina) had a bit of a rough outing Friday, putting up a +7 (79) to drop to seventh on the final board. Cammisa finished at +7 overall (72-79—151).

Rachel Lewis (Jr., Cardiff, Wales) rounded out the scores for the Sharks, shooting a +2 (74) in the final round to finish with a share of ninth after finishing the first day in 23rd. Lewis shot a +8 (78-74—152), which was only one stroke behind teammate Cammisa.

The Sharks are back in action again on April 8 at the Hoya Invitational in Beallsville, Md.
