WINTER PARK, Fla. – The No. 17 Nova Southeastern tennis team (5-5) won on the road, defeating Montana State Billings (0-10), 9-0, Thursday at Rollins College.
The Sharks earned the win by collecting points early, winning all three doubles matches by scores of 8-1, 8-1 and 8-4.
Austin Lavallii (Sr., Williamston, Mich.) and
Sabrina Kierberg (Fr., Munich, Germany) were in the top doubles flight to beat Hannah Shephard and Madeline Loomis.
In the second doubles pairing,
Alexandra Johansson (So., Sydney, Australia) and
Charlotte Cote (So., Montreal, Canada) defeated Mary Conwell and Emily Paffhausen. In the third flight,
Bianca Roberts (So., Tampa, Fla.) and
Luisa Pintado (Fr., Guadalajara, Mexico) beat out Kaitlyn Nichols and Libby Rutz.
The Sharks continued their success in the singles matches, winning in every draw. Kierberg took a victory in the first flight ,defeating Shephard 6-1, 6-0. Following Keirberg’s lead in the second flight was Johansson, who defeated Madeline Loomis 6-0, 6-0. Cote defeated Conwell in the third flight, 6-0, 6-1.
In the fourth draw was Roberts, who defeated Kaitlyn Nichols 6-0, 6-2.
Linda Kornienko (Fr., Fort Myers, Fla.) played in the fifth flight and beat Emily Paffhausen 6-0,6-0. In the sixth and final match to round out the day was Pintado, who defeated Rutz, 6-0, 6-0.
The Sharks will return home on March 8, to play against NCAA Division-I opponent Georgetown. The match will begin at 3 p.m.
