FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Highly-decorated guard
Meixandra Porter added another recognition to her ledger as she was recently named third-team All-American by
Women’s Division II Bulletin.
Less than a week after being chosen as a
State Farm/WBCA Coaches’ All-American, Porter (Sr., Chantilly, Va.) became the first DII Bulletin honoree since Stephanie Sarosi was chosen by the publication twice (fourth team in 2007-08, third team in 2008-09).
Porter finished her Shark career after their Elite Eight run as the fourth-highest scorer since the team moved to DII, at an impressive 959 points in just two seasons. Her 131 made 3-pointers in those two years is second all-time, and she also ranks in the NSU career top 10 in field goals (322, fourth), steals (122, fourth), free throws made (184, fifth) and assists (153, sixth).
This year, she set two new single-season program marks, in 3-pointers (77) and steals (also 77), and her 546 points stands second, behind only Sarosi. She also kicked off this season by setting new school standards in points (36) and 3-pointers (nine) in the opener against Palm Beach Atlantic.
