FINAL RESULTS

SAINT LEO, Fla.
- The No.1 Nova Southeastern men’s golf team, after leading through the first two rounds at the 2013 Sunshine State Conference Golf Championship at Dade City's Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club, fell by one-stroke in the final round to claim second. The men shot a -4 (288-281-291—860).

The Sharks were ahead by three-strokes heading into today’s final round but were unable to maintain their gap over Barry, who took the top spot by one-stroke, shooting a -5 (290-282-287—859). NSU carded a +3 (291), which was their only team round shot over-par.

The consistent daily team battle made for an exciting tournament but individually for the Sharks, Ricardo Celia (So., Barranquilla, Columbia) stole the show.  Celia captured the top spot on the first day and maintained the lead throughout the entire tournament, shooting a +7 (69-70-70—209) to capture the individual victory.

With a remarkable turnaround Benjamin Taylor (Jr., Leatherhead, England), after a rough first round, strung together a pair of 70’s in the final two rounds to take sole position of sixth overall moving up from his first day position of 22nd. Taylor shot a -1 (75-70-70—215) for the tournament.

Grabbing a share of ninth and the third best finish on the team was Hunter O'Mahony (Fr., Jupiter, Fla.), who shot two initial rounds under-par but slipped a bit during his final round shooting a five-over, 77. O’Mahony finished the tournament at two-over, shooting a 218 (71-70-77).

Ian Facey (So., Miami, Fla.) and teammate Ian Facey (Jr., West Sussex, England) rounded out the scores for NSU, finishing with a share of 13th and a share of 21st, respectively.  Facey, coming off a strong second round, dropped three-strokes in his final round to shot two-over on the day with a 74 and a three-over, 219 (74-71-74) on the tournament. Farrer, who matched facey round-for-round had a slight skid today also, shooting a seven-over, 79. Farrer finished the tournament at +8 (74-71-79—224).

With a couple weeks off the Sharks will now prepare for the NCAA South Regional Tournament, which is scheduled for May 6 at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
