FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) made a push to join the rest of the student body organizations and have a presence at SEA (Student Events and Activities) Thursdays. Through the SAAC's participation, the organization earned its second win at the SEA Thursdays.
The SEA Board has implemented themes surrounding the events; such as Health Awareness, Throwback Thursday and Pause for a Cause. The final SEA Thursday took place last week and was themed the "Battle of the Orgs." Individuals who walked through the University Center were given three tickets at a login table. With those three tickets students and staff were able to drop in as many tickets as they wanted to each organization they deemed as their favorite.
The SAAC table promoted softball senior night as well as the baseball series against Tampa. For the second consecutive competition at SEA Thursday, SAAC came home a winner. The entire softball team and members from the baseball pitching staff did a great job of engaging with their NSU community and proved to be a fan favorite in the end.
The SEA Board is a student-led organization that enhances and engages the NSU community by providing a variety of social, cultural, and traditional events. One of their main avenues in achieving this goal is through the SEA Thursday events in which each organization has the opportunity to reserve a table in the spine of the University Center and solicit their peers in events they are trying to put on.
SAAC, with some assistance from the athletic department, has taken it upon themselves to promote athletic events that are being played on campus for the respective week. The individual teams have rotated every week and have been generous with volunteering their time to go out and engage the student body to attend their games. Through the participation of the SAAC and student-athletes, this will be a program that will become a yearly tradition for the Sharks.
