SAAC Hosts 2013 Fall Kickoff Party

Fall Kickoff
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted its inaugural NSU Fall Kickoff Party at the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center.

The goal for SAAC was to have all the NSU student-athletes meet each other and make new friends before the academic year begins. SAAC hosted several ice-breaking sessions and games, including a musical chairs contest that ended in a dance off.

"This is a tradition that we started off last year during the winter semester and it is something we will continue to do," stated SAAC president and NSU baseball pitcher Roberto Baroniel (Jr., Miami, Fla.). "This organization's main objective is to bring people together. That concept ranges from bringing the student-athletes together with the general NSU population, the community and even ourselves."

Bringing student-athletes together is one of the many goals for SAAC this year, after setting a new standard in 2012. Last season, NSU SAAC organized several Shark Nights aimed at increasing fan engagement and also raised over $5,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. SAAC will look to top last year's effort in 2013 and continue to raise the bar.

"The only way this organization is really going to make a difference in our community is if we all support each other on and off the field," stated Baroniel. "And it's events like this that help bring us together and move us in the right direction."
