FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern rowing head coach
Stephen Frazier-Wong has released his schedule for the 2013 fall season.
"Last year's season was a roller coaster ride that ended with an unbelievable thrill," stated Frazier-Wong. "I can't wait to see what this season has in store. Our returners are energized to defend their national championship and our first-year rowers are hungry to help."
The Sharks will look to defend its first NCAA National Championship this season and become the third school in NCAA Division II rowing history to repeat as champions. After an alumni scrimmage race in Hollywood's intracoastal on Sept. 28, the road to nationals will start with the Miami Mix on Oct. 5. The Sharks will compete against Sunshine State Conference champions Barry and the University of Miami.
The Sharks will then move on to the First Coast Head Race on Oct. 12 in Jacksonville, Fla. Last season, the Sharks had a breakout performance and won both the Varsity-8 and V4 races.
The final regatta of the fall is the FIRA Fall Classic, annually held in Fellsmere, Fla., on Nov. 9. The eight boat came in second place last season, but will likely be the favorite entering the state's premier regatta of the fall season.
The 2013-14 campaign is projected to be another memorable run for NSU, with the Sharks returning six rowers from last season's V8 boat as well as both of the Sharks' varsity coxswains.
