Sharks' Tennis Squad, Two Singles Players Ranked by ITA

Fall sees Sharks at No. 9, Kierberg and Sella both in top 20

ITA South Regional Rankings

SKILLMAN, N.J. –
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association recently released their fall rankings, with the Nova Southeastern University squad ranked ninth in the South Region, and two players garnering attention in the singles ranks.

The Sharks, following the completion of their three fall events, are one of seven Sunshine State Conference teams slotted in the ITA's Top 10. Amongst the top 20 singles players are Sabrina Kierberg (Jr., Munich, Germany), at No. 6, and Francesca Sella (Fr., Carpenedolo, Italy), ranked 17th (and one of only four freshmen listed).

"It's great to see that two of our players each earned a regional ranking in the fall based off their success at the fall tournaments," said head coach Stephen Schram. "Both Francesca and Sabrina defeated very good opponents from top schools in our region and in the country."

Barry is atop the team rankings, followed by Saint Leo and Lynn. Valentine Confalonieri of Lynn is rated as the top singles player, followed by West Florida's Monika Kochanova and Emma Onlia, of Barry. The top 10 doubles teams were also listed, led by Barry's combination of Onlia and Linda Fritschken, with Confalionieri and Martina Gladacheva of Lynn second.
