FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The accolades for the Nova Southeastern University men's and women's swimming and diving teams continue to roll in as 11 Sharks were named College Swimming Coaches Association of America Spring 2014 Individual Scholar All-America award winners on Monday.
Leading the way for the Sharks was
Florian Mehlan (Moers, Germany) and
Shane Kleinbeck (San Antonio, Texas), each earning a spot as CSCAA Scholar All-America list. Mehlan and Kleinbeck were two of 51 student-athletes named to the NCAA DII Men's Scholar All-America list.
Addison Cates (Port Charlotte, Fla.),
John Michael Hayes (Jacksonville, Fla.) and
Jim Shelley (Charlottesville, Va.) rounded out the men's side, as the three were honored as CSCAA NCAA DII Men's Honorable Mention Scholar All-America.
On the women's side, six Sharks were named to the CSCAA NCAA DII Women's Honorable Mention Scholar All-America list.

Sammy Akoubian (Run Dacula, Ga),
Kathleen Bowman (Iowa City, Iowa),
Brooke Munion (Bethlehem, Pa. ),
Arianna Sunyak (Naples, Fla.) and
Alexandra Zatylny (Quebec, Canada) were honored Monday afternoon.
In total, 37 student-athletes from the Sunshine State Conference were honored. NSU and Tampa led the way with 11 total honorees each, while Florida Southern finished with nine. Saint Leo had four student-athletes honored and Lynn had two.
The Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a cumulative, or term grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the academic term coinciding with their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CCCAA Swimming and Diving Championships and have qualified for and competed at the Championship.
The Honorable Mention Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester, or cumulative average, and have achieved a "B" time standard but did not qualify or compete in their respective national championship. Divers qualify by competing at their respective championship qualifying meets, zones or NCAA preliminary rounds.
