FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University cross country and track and field head coach Bryan Hagopian has released additional signees for the 2015-16 NSU recruiting class. The Sharks will bring in six more athletes for the upcoming fall, specializing in several different events. Below is a list of signees and why they chose NSU:
Devonte GibsonSprinter"I chose Nova Southeastern University as the college I would like to attend because Nova has so much to offer me, such as a great education, a stimulating college experience, and the university not being too far from home is also a perk. My long-term goal is to graduate with a Bachelor of Science and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy; by attending Nova Southeastern University I will be given the opportunity to achieve my long-term goal. While attending Nova, I am going to pursue my track and field career through Nova's athletic program, and I am really looking forward to being a contribution to helping bring a conference championship to Nova Southeastern University."Charles Hornberger
Sprinter"I have chosen Nova Southeastern University primarily because I have been provided the opportunity and been accepted into the Dual Admission Program for Optometry. In addition, I will look forward to competing in track and field for the Nova Sharks. Finally, I will be in a location far from snowy Buffalo and close to a sunny beach!"
Kamaria JohnsonSprinter / Hurlder"I chose NSU because, in my search for a place that would fit my standards of an academic and an athletic home, they were at the top of my list. They had the medical field that I plan on pursuing, and their athletic program, from what I've seen, is great. The staff there is very understanding, and they were very helpful in giving me the best information to make a decision for the new chapter starting in my life. I feel comfortable, and I know I'll fit in just fine. So there's nothing really left to say except LET'S GO SHARKS!"Anakary Merino
Distance"I chose NSU because I wanted to expand my opportunities outside my home state of New York. NSU looks like a great school all around. The campus and its facilities are amazing, and the weather is always beautiful. The staff and students always look like they're having a great time being able to teach and study at a well-rounded university. I chose this school because I will be able to study for my desired career while also being able to maintain my lifestyle of running and all while meeting new people and coming across great opportunities that NSU provides. I know that being a shark at NSU as a student athlete will be an awesome experience!"
Sahil (Sam) NihalSprinter"NSU's strong coaching staff and dedicated athletes are a huge attraction for those who are interested in succeeding in their athletic career like me. I am confident that I can improve at NSU and balance my education with my passion for track. As a 400m runner, things happen quickly, and similarly, college goes by quickly. However, NSU will enable me to make the most of my time and will teach me valuable lessons through running and learning. I hope to create a successful career as a Shark and make a huge impact on the track and field department to show my gratitude for what the school will do for me and as an indication of how far I would have come as a freshman entering Nova."

Distance"I decided on NSU because the university and the cross country team has been highly recommended by familiar athletes. The vibrant campus life with NCAA Athletics, social and professional organizations, cultural activities, the prestigious graduate programs in business, the diverse student population and the amazing location close to Fort Lauderdale's beach, South Beach, Las Olas and the Everglades satisfied me a lot. I am really looking forward to train and race with the Cross Country/Track & Field Team and experience the student's life at NSU."
