MELBOURNE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University's Alex Mateo was named the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
 
The senior right-hander struck out 10 batters against Tuskegee on Friday night, tying his career high that he set on April 11, 2015 against Florida Tech. Mateo allowed one hit against the Golden Tigers, as he took a no-hitter 6.2 innings. Mateo dropped his ERA 1.91 points over the weekend, from 4.91 to 3.00. The 2015 SSC strikeout king is now fourth in the SSC in season strikeouts in 2016 with 21.
 
Mateo and the Sharks will be back in action on Friday, February 26^th, against the Flagler Saints in Saint Augustine, Fla. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
