FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern University men's and women's cross country teams have concluded at the Florida Tech Invitational. The men's team finished seventh overall while the women placed sixth overall.
The men's side featured 13 teams in the 8k while the women's featured 16 teams in the 5k.
Leading the way for the men's team was Christian Oppel (Gr., Lautertal, Germany) with a seventh place finish clocking in at 26:08.10. The Sharks garnered another Top-10 finish when Thomas Ingalls (Sr., St. George, Utah) crossed the finish line at 26:17.59 placing tenth overall.
The women's team saw two personal-bests in the 5k with Allison Porter (Fr., Bolivar, Mo.) and Janelle Shipotofsky (So., Sicklerville, N.J.). Porter led the way for the women's team finishing with a personal-best 19:23.76, placing tenth in the Div. II race and eleventh overall. Shipotofsky ran a personal-best, 20:16.27, finishing 20th.
"Both teams did much better than last week," said assistant coach Austin Warner. "Everyone on the men's side hit or exceeded my expectations. The ladies stepped up big time and we saw personal-bests from Allison and Janelle. Now it is time to get back to work and prepare for Minnesota."
The Sharks will be back in action on Sept. 24. when they travel up north to the University of Minnesota.
