Former NSU Men’s Golfer Lost in Fatal Crash

Stephen Conrad, Jr., 32, played golf at NSU from 2003 through 2005.

FORT LAUDERDALE – The Nova Southeastern University Athletic Department was saddened to learn of the death of former NSU men's golfer Stephen Conrad, Jr., 32 and his mother Kimberly Conrad, 61, who were both killed in a head-on collision on Christmas day near their home in Syracuse, Ind.

"The NSU family mourns the loss of Stephen Conrad and his mother in this unthinkable tragedy on Christmas Day," Director of Athletics Michael Mominey said. "Stephen was part of the early golf teams that began the great golf tradition we know today. He had many friends and fellow alumni who supported his pursuit of a golfing career – a career that he was fortunate enough to realize and enjoy."

Stephen played golf at NSU from 2003-2005 under former head coach Duke Donahue. He also played a major role in the men's team capturing the school's first-ever conference title as members of the Sunshine State Conference in 2005. Although he only played two seasons at NSU, to this day, Conrad still ranks in the top five in several scoring categories including scoring average (72.36), national ranking (8th), tournament wins (2), and par or better rounds (15) for a single season.

Stephen was also a decorated golfer in the state of Indiana. He played golf at Wawasee High School and was just recently inducted into the Indian High School Hall of Fame. He was also one of only a few players to have won both Indiana State Junior and State Amateur and State Open titles.
