FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University men's and women's swimming teams displayed a strong start to the 2017 season with a solid performance in the first day of the Shark Invitational at the NSU Aquatic Complex on Friday evening.
Throughout the day, the Sharks won five events with four NCAA Provisional times and one NCAA A-Cut time. The women's team leads the pack with 231.5 points while the men sit in fourth, scoring 145 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
· The women's team started the day winning the 200-yard freestyle relay.
· Emma Sundstedt and Franco Lupoli completed the sweep of the 500-yard freestyle for the Sharks with provisional times of 4:59.41 and 4:32.25.
· Sydney Panzarino and Jenna Johns claimed first and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with B-Cut times, 23.47 and 24.04, respectively.
· The women's team ended the day finishing second in the 400-yard medley relay while the men claimed fifth.
TOP PERFORMERS:
· The 200 Free Relay of Panzarino, Jordan Shows, Caroline Oster and Johns qualified for the national championship with a first-place time of 1:34.61.
· Madison Yelle claimed third in the 500-yard freestyle at with a B-Cut time of 5:04.94.
UP NEXT:
Day two of the Shark Invitational will begin with the morning session at 9:30 a.m., followed by the afternoon session set to start at 2:00 p.m.
