NSU’s Jordan and Moate Named PBC Track Athletes of the Week

Sharks take home multiple awards for the fourth time this season.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – For the second week in a row, Nova Southeastern University track and field runners Sherrelle Jordan and Eric Moate have claimed the Peach Belt Conference's Track Athlete of the Week awards, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

"I'm proud of Sherrelle and Eric," head coach Bryan Hagopian said. "They've worked hard all season. Both of them have been working hard in the weight room and in practice to get where they want to be for conference and nationals. Their results in the past few weeks have shown that they will be ready to run at their best."

Jordan claimed her third weekly accolade this season after her strong performance at the Miami Alumni Invitational. The Chandler, Arizona native opened the event with a season-best, and another provisional time in the 100m hurdles by posting a time of 10.62s. The time leads the conference and is the fourth-fastest in Division II. Jordan then contributed to the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams that finished with season-bests. The senior ran the first leg of the 4x100 that finished with an NCAA B-cut time of 46.22s. Jordan later finished the day by running the second leg of the 4x400m relay that ran a mark of 3:48.92s, .20 shy of the provisional mark. Both relay times are also the top-times in the conference.

Moate garnered his second award in as many weeks with a career day at the University of Miami. The Lakeland, Florida native started the day as a part of the 4x100m relay team that ran a time of 41.85s. Moate then competed in the 200m dash that consisted of 51 runners, mostly from the Division I and professional ranks. The sophomore finished in fourth place with a personal-best, and provisional qualifying time of 21.29s. The time also moves Moate into first place in the conference and 12th overall in all of Division II.

The Sharks will travel to Montevallo, Alabama to compete for the PBC Championship from Thursday April 20-22.
