FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's basketball team and head coach
LeAnn Freeland-Curry are proud to announce the first spring signee for the 2017-18 season, Destiny Walters.
As a senior at Hallandale HS, the 5-9 guard averaged 19.4 points per game, 5.4 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 3.2 steals. From her stellar final season, she was named to the 2017 All-Broward County First-Team from both the Sun Sentinel and the Miami Herald. As a junior, she was also named to the 2016 Sun Sentinel All-Broward County First-Team.
"Destiny is an athletic, versatile guard who has been the go-to player at Hallandale for two years," boasted Freeland-Curry. "She has a scorer's mentality, but creates a lot of shots for teammates as well. On the defensive end, she anticipates well off the ball, deflects a lot passes, and gets a lot of steals. She is an extremely hard worker and is excited to get started with us in the fall."
Off the court, she also earned a Scholar-Athlete Award from the Broward County Athletic Association.
"Academically, Destiny also excels in the classroom and is currently ranked No. 10 in her class," Freeland-Curry explained. "Our coaching staff and players are excited to announce Destiny Walters is a Shark."
