Freedman Chosen to Represent U.S. in 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup

Jamie Freedman becomes first-ever NSU women’s golfer to be selected

ORLANDO, Fla. – For the second consecutive year, Nova Southeastern will have a representative among the prestigious Arnold Palmer Cup as senior women's golfer Jamie Freedman has been named a committee selection on the United States side in this July's event.
Freedman joins former men's golfers Ben Taylor and Richard Mansell as the only NSU players in school history to ever be selected.

The annual Ryder Cup-style tournament is set to be played from July 6-8 at the Evian Resort Golf Club in southeastern France, and in 2018, will be the first using the expanded format of United States men's and women's collegiate golfers facing off against their counterparts from around the world.

The Miami Beach, Fla. native was the only NCAA Division II student-athlete chosen among the field on either side, having helped lead the top-ranked Sharks to six wins in seven tournament appearances so far this year. In seven starts, Freedman has recorded six Top-10 finishes, earning individual medalist at the NCAA DII National Preview back in September. According to Golfstat, she is currently ranked as the No. 4 player in the nation.

In 1997 Arnold Palmer was approached by the Golf Coaches Association of America regarding lending his name to an international collegiate event between the United States and Great Britain and Ireland. Palmer, a former collegiate player himself, has been called America's greatest Ambassador for the game of golf. With his blessing and the support of the Arnold Palmer Golf Company, the inaugural event was played at his own Bay Hill Club in Florida in June 1997.
