Honored as an All -American in the 800 – freestyle relay... All -American Honorable Mention in the 1000 –freestyle and 1650 –freestyle... Swimming at the Florida Invitational (10/7-9/2011 ) Cates paced the finished seventh with a time of 16:23.06 in the 1650 - free... Swimming versus Saint Leo(10/15/2011) finished second (9:53.40) in the 1000- free…Against Rollins(11/5/2011) Cates swam a (4:41.96) posting a NCAA B-qualifying time in the 500-yard freestyle and he stopped the clock the fastest in a time of (1:43.64) in the 200- yard freestyle, posting another NCAA B-qualifying time…Swimming against Indian River & Florida International University (11/12/2011) was the best male Shark in the 200-free, he finished in third-place (1:45.42)… he won with a B-cut time of 4:41.92 in the men’s 500-free at Tampa (12/3/2011 ) ...Swimming versus Florida Southern he captured second place with a B-cut qualifying time of 16:16.99 in the 1650-freestyle which landed third place…Swimming at the SSC Championships Cates won the1650-free and set the SSC record with a B-cut qualifying time of 15:38.34… Swimming in Division II NCAA Championships he finished 11th in the 1650 –free with a time of 15:42.57. |

HIGH SCHOOL
Swam for four years at Gulf Coast High School… His senior season finished fourth at the state meet in the 200y freestyle with a time of 1:44.03 and seventh in the 100y breaststroke with a time of 1:01.74… Honored most valuable player and named to the all-county team for three years
PERSONAL
Majoring in sports science and physical therapy with a minor in law… Law Abiding Citizen is listed as his favorite movie and Fresh Prince of Bellaire is his favorite television show… His favorite professional athlete is Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are his favorite team… Son of Bruce and Angela Caldwell and has one brother, Nicholas.
