AS A JUNIOR (2010-11)
Fall 2010: At the Sandestin Collegiate, out of 66 individual competitors, NSU’s Ben Vertz (69-70-78) continued to lead the Shark squad despite a seven over 78 in the final round and finished T13th…At the MacDonald Cup Vertz was the Sharks top golfer finishing 16th with a two round five over 145 (71-74)…At the Rollins Invitational Vertz paced a third-place team finish by the Sharks with an individual performance of six under for the tournament to finish third out of 56 golfers.
Spring 2011: Named to the 2011 SSC Commissioners Spring Honor Roll… Division II PING All-American Honorable Mention honors for his strong play during the 2011 season...In 32 rounds over 11 tournaments, Vertz averaged a score of 72.34 a round...Vertz led the Sharks at the NCAA South Regional Tournament where he shot a team-best 220 (75-75-70)...Finished Regionals tied for 15th place… maintained scores around par all season to earn three top-five finishes along with four top-10...Vertz broke through in the second round of the Bobcat Invitational, he shot his lowest round of the year of 67 and finished tied for 13th... He finished tied for second at the Caribbean Intercollegiate with a score of 212 (69-70-73).
AS A SOPHMORE (2009-10)
Fall 2009: Competed in four tournaments finishing a career best of 3rd at the Rollins College Invitational and also posted his lowest score of a 65 after the first round of play... Placed 25th at the NSU Shark Invitational... Came in tied for 65th at the John Dallio Memorial Invitational and tied for 64th at the Aflac/ Cougar Invitational...
Spring 2010: Appeared in all seven spring tournaments with his best finish of ninth being at the Golfweek Spring Invitational for Division II... Finished tied for 18th at the 2010 SSC Men's Tournament... Came in tied for 24th at the Matlock Collegiate Classic... Finished tied for 49th at the 2010 Southeastern Collegiate Invitational... At the Bobcat Invitational he came in tied for 68th... Competed at the NCAA Division II Men's South/Southeast Regional Tournament where he came in tied for 8th after three rounds of play, to help his team take third and continue on to the 2010 NCAA National Championship Tournament... Concluded the season with a 74.31 shot average after 32 rounds of play.
AS A FRESHMAN (2008-09)
Fall 2008:Came in 35th place in collegiate debut at the John Dallio Memorial...Had an impressive fourth place finish at the NCAA DII Preview...Shot a career low round of 68 in the opening round of the NCAA DII Preview.
Spring 2009: Began spring season with a 49th place finish at the Matlock Collegiate Classic...Highest spring finish was 10th at the Buccaneer Invitational...Came in 13th place at the SSC Championships...Concluded season with a 41st place finish at the NCAA DII South/Southeast Regional...Finished year with a 73.62 scoring average in 26 rounds...Named SSC Freshman of the Year.
Competed for Coral Springs Christian High School...Won 2 consecutive district titles...Two-time First Team All-County...Four-year team MVP...Placed 3rd FSGA State Championships...Earned a spot in U.S. Junior Amateur Championship match play 2007...FCWT All-American 2007...Holds Interlachen C.C. record with a 66 (-6).
