Biography

AS A SENIOR (2015)
Was a double shy of the cycle with three RBI in the 13-7 Opening Day win over Stillman…Recorded his first multi-homer game in a 13-2 win against Bridegeport (3/16), driving in a season-high four runs for the second game in a row…Set a career high in stolen bases with three in a 18-2 victory over Albany State (2/26), while going 3-for-4 from the plate, with three runs scored and three more batted in…Tied a career high in hits with four in four at bats, while being a triple shy of the cycle in a 7-4 loss to Eckerd (4/24)…Finished the season with a .310 batting average, .405 on-base percentage, and .571 slugging percentage…Added 10 doubles, 11 home runs, 43 runs batted in, and 52 runs scored…Was 12-for-13 on stolen base attempts…Led the team and was second in the SSC in triples (5)…Was one of three players to start all 52 games…Daktronics All-South Region Second Team…25th round draft pick by the Miami Marlins.

AS A JUNIOR (2014)
A two-way player for the Sharks, Fernandez made six appearances and one start on the mound for NSU...Started the season as the team's first baseman, before moving over to second...Was named the NCBWA South Region Hitter of the Week and Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week in the same week...Fernandez finished the week hitting .600 (9-of-15) with seven RBI and four runs scored...More impressively, the junior slugged 1.067 with seven doubles—five doubles against Saint Leo...Led the team in doubles (16), tied for the team lead in home runs (4), finished with the highest slugging percentage on the team (.506) and was one of six people to record a triple for the Sharks...Hit a home run in three consecutive games, coming against St. Thomas and in two separate games against Palm Beach Atlantic (4/22, 4/27, & 4/29)...Pitched 17.2 innings and finished with a 3.57 ERA.

Attended the University of Miami for two years.

HIGH SCHOOL
Played baseball for four years at Archbishop McCarthy High School under head coach Richard Bielski…Had a .513 batting average, with four home runs and 54 RBI his senior year…Won back to back state and national championships.
