The mission of the Strength and Conditioning staff at Nova Southeastern University is to provide up to date training programs that prepare our student athletes for the physical and mental challenges they will face throughout their playing careers. It is our goal to teach our athletes proper techniques to prevent injury and to reach full athletic potential. We expect hard work and dedication in our athletes as well as coaches.
The strength and conditioning staff are dedicated to providing excellence expertise to the Nova Southeastern University Athletic Teams. The Strength & Conditioning Staff priorities are:
1. Prevent Injuries. Healthy muscles and joints decrease the chances of injury. When an injury occurs a well conditioned and trained athlete will not only recovery from the injury but spend less time in limited participation.
2. Enhance Sport Performance. This is achieved through program design which emphasizes strength, speed, power, agility, flexibility, body composition, nutrition and sport specific conditioning.
3. Improve Mental Development. To develop the ability to maintain a high level of focus, maturity, accountability, responsibility, discipline, competitiveness and loyalty while minimizing distractions and deterrents to personal and team performance. In addition to the physical gains, the mental development achieved will excite the athletes and raise the level of athletic confidence, preparing them to compete and succeed against anyone in the Sunshine State Conference.
In order to provide this to all athletes, the department provides a professional staff and administers a comprehensive, efficient and effective weight training program. Along with the strength staff, the communication with all athletic trainers, medical professionals, and coaches is utilized to help develop the best program for the athlete's needs.
