FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has planned an amazing week, as part of the NCAA Division II Week of Wishes campaign.
The Week of Wishes is an initiative to raise money for Division II's official charity, the Make-a-Wish Foundation and make an impact in the NSU community.
"NSU is excited to participate in the NCAA Division II Week of Wishes," said Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance, Internal Operations and Sport Administration/Senior Woman Administrator Kelley Kish. "The creativity and care that our SAAC has shown through the planning of all the events reflects how important the Make-A-Wish charity is to our student-athletes. We look forward to a week of fun that will raise money and draw attention to this national initiative."
If you are at any of these events in the upcoming week, make sure you tweet #NSUWeekofWishes when posting to social media.
NSU's SAAC contributed over $5,500 towards the overall NCAA Division II total of $517,645 for Make-A-Wish during the 2012-13 school year. The Sharks' efforts rank 11th among contributing institutions, which helped surpass last year's national effort by almost $50,000 and set a new Division II fundraising record.
For the upcoming 2013-14 year, Make-A-Wish is adding a new element to Division II's fundraising efforts: a matching incentive. Every dollar that a Division II school raises beyond last year's total will be matched, up to $1,000 per school.
