FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern's Roberto Baroniel (Jr., Miami, Fla.) has been appointed to the Division II National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, approved by the Division II Presidents Council Monday.
"I'm really excited to see how far I can go with an opportunity like this," said Baroniel. "It's an honor to be able to represent NSU in such a unique way. It's great for our athletic program, for our university and for our community."
The role of the national SAAC representative is to attend and be an active participant at all conference and national SAAC meetings and work as a liaison amongst the institutional, conference and national SAAC's. As a national SAAC representative, Roberto will be aware of issues and updates from both the conference and the NCAA, which affect all institutions, conferences and student-athletes.
In addition to leading the NSU SAAC, working on a degree in exercise science and pitching for a perennial SSC title contender, Baroniel will serve as the president of the Sunshine State Conference SAAC. Baroniel will be traveling to several conventions throughout the year, meeting with representatives from conference SAAC presidents from around Division II.
"We are thrilled to have Roberto represent Nova Southeastern University through his appointment to the NCAA Division II National SAAC," said Associate Athletic Director/SWA, Compliance, Sport Administration & Internal Operations Kelley Kish. "We have already felt the impact of his leadership, drive and desire to positively impact the student-athlete experience at NSU and look forward to seeing that on a national scale through his work with the NCAA."
"Also, this wouldn't of been possible without me being surrounded by such great people here at NSU," stated Baroniel. "From our staff members and coaches to our student-athletes, I'm very lucky to be in a place with such special people that share the same passion that I have for this school."
