2014 Spring Tennis Schedule Released

Sharks to begin play on Feb. 1 against Florida Tech.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 21 Nova Southeastern tennis team has released its 2014 spring championship schedule and will begin play at home Feb. 1 against No. 15 Florida Tech at 1 p.m.

The Sharks' season opener will also begin Sunshine State Conference play, pitting the Sharks against one of the nation's top teams. From there, NSU will host NCAA Division I Bethune-Cookman on Feb. 8 at 2:30 p.m. The five-match homestand gets more difficult from there, as the Sharks host top-25 opponents over their next three matches. The Sharks will face No. 8 Saint Leo on Feb. 9 at 1 p.m., No. 22 Tampa on Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. and No. 3 Barry on Feb. 18 at 2 p.m.

The Sharks' first road match is scheduled for Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. at No. 9 Rollins in Winter Park, Fla. After playing six straight matches against top-25 ranked teams and one DI squad, the Sharks will return home to play Northwood on Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. NSU returns to conference play on the road at Eckerd on Feb. 28 at 2 p.m.

From there, NSU will take an 11-match break from SSC play with two conference matches remaining. Senior day will be scheduled during this run of matches on March 22 at 10 a.m. against Emory. The final two SSC matches will be on the road, at No. 6 Lynn on April 3 at 2 p.m. and at No. 11 Florida Southern on April 5 at 10 a.m.

The 2014 SSC Tournament will be held in Winter Park, Fla. from April 24-26. The top eight teams in the conference advance to the tournament, with every team scheduled to play three matches in the championship and back draw. The NCAA Tournament will begin on May 3 and end in Altamonte Springs, Fla. on May 17.
