FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – National Girls and Women in Sports Day will take place Wednesday, Feb. 12, and NSU will have their annual luncheon featuring keynote speaker Delise O'Meally, at the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center.
NGWSD began in 1987 and has been celebrated with a luncheon at NSU since 2004. O'Meally, the NCAA Director of Association-Wide Governance and International Affairs, will be presented with the Pioneer Award for her accomplishments and commitment to sports.
In addition to O'Meally's award and speech, NSU will also be giving out the Flo Hyman Award. Hyman, an Olympic volleyball player, was the precursor for NGWSD for her athletic achievements and her work to assure equality in women's sports. Each of the 10 women's teams at NSU nominates a current student-athlete with one being chosen for this award.
