FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern baseball team hosted youth day at the NSU Baseball Complex Sunday, Jan. 26th.
Youth from the community came out to the ball field and met the Sharks coaches and players for a few hours on Sunday. The players and coaches set up different drills for the youth to take part in.
"To be able to give back to our youth is very important to me and our program," said head baseball coach
GregBrown. "The coaches and youth clinic was a great testament to the type of leaders we are developing within our program as it was organized by
Roberto Baroniel.  I believe that all those in attendance benefitted from the clinic, including all of us."
All of the Sharks players and staff were excited to give back to the community. "Anytime we as a team get an opportunity to interact with the community is a huge plus for our organization," said Baroniel. "This was part of an effort to help put a name to our faces and get some kids to come out to our games."
This was also a great opportunity for the Sharks to act as role models and give the youth in the community someone to look up to.
"When I was younger I attended many baseball camps, those camps were priceless," said outfielder Geoff Jimenez. "I just hope to go out there and do the same for those kids, like the college players did for me many years ago."
The Sharks will now practice the rest of the week of practice before their season opener at home against Tusculum in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
