FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – On Monday, 57 NSU student-athletes attended the Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Luncheon at the Grande Oaks Golf Club to celebrate their outstanding academic success.
Students-athletes who finished a semester with a 3.8 or higher, had the highest GPA on the team, or student-athletes who flourished in the NSU Academic Program were all celebrated during the luncheon.
"Today's Academic Achievement Luncheon was a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with President Hanbury and honor the Sharks that define student-athlete," said Associate Director of Athletics/SWA Compliance, Internal Operations and Sport Administrator Kelley Kish. "We are so proud of the academic work of all student-athletes. We enjoyed recognizing this special group today and all that they mean to NSU and our athletic department."
President George Hanbury and Dr. Stephen Russo spoke to the athletes, congratulating them on their fine achievements in the classroom. Also, cross country runner
Peri Bowman (Sr., Virginia Beach, Va.) and men's soccer player
Nicola Brivio (So., Gallarte, Italy), each spoke to everyone, telling their success stories and all the hard work that came with it.
