MARTINEZ, Ga. –
Laruschka Joubert (Fr., Krugersdorp, South Africa) and
Ryan Jerothe (Jr., New Port Richey, Fla.) were each named Peach Belt Conference Field Athletes of the Week for their performance at the Miami Hurricanes Invitational.
Jourbert, in only her second collegiate outdoor event, won the javelin throw with a NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 41.3-meters. The freshman beat nine other competitors in the event, eight from Division I schools, and set PBC and NSU school records in the process. She also placed ninth in the discus and 10th in the shot put.
Jerothe set an NCAA provisional mark in the pole vault by clearing the bar at 4.9m. The junior finished second overall in the event, but first among collegiate student-athletes. He tied the PBC record set last week by Shorter's Stefanos Koufidis. He also finished seventh in the javelin at the event.
